Farewell to Bronwyn & Graeme Brown
A function was held in late November
to say goodbye to two people who have been with the choir
since its inception.
Graeme Brown served as Chairman from 1996 to early 2004, in addition to
being a valuable
member of the bass line.
Bronwyn Brown has been our accompanist
from 1996 until 2005, and
also served on the committee for most of that time. Though their talents
will be greatly missed
by us, they are sure to be appreciated by new friends and audiences in
Canberra.
The photo shows Bronwyn and Graeme receiving a
gift from the choir, a "lazy Susan" server made
from native Queensland timber. We wish them well in their new life in
the south.
Our Christmas Concert
was enjoyed by a church full of people on Sunday 4th December.
Thanks to everyone for making it a very special event in
spite of the heat!

The other BCC (Brisbane City Council) decided to have a
Christmas party to launch the rejuvenation
of Gregory Park at Milton and we were delighted to be invited to perform
on Saturday 3rd December ...

ANCA, in association with South Burnett
Chorale, staged the Big Sing for 2005 at Kingaroy from 9th to
11th September, 2005. Many of our choir members were able to take off
for the weekend to join with over two hundred singers from around
South-East Queensland. Our Musical Director, Debra Shearer-Dirié, was
the conductor-in-residence. Click the thumbnails below for more details.

HAYDN's Nelson Mass
'from scratch' EVENT on
Saturday 16th July 2005 was a great success!
Over 200 singers, full orchestra and
professional soloists, all lead by Debra Shearer-Dirié,
raised the roof at St Andrew's! It was a year of centenaries, with our
building being 100 years old,
and 200 years since Lord Nelson's death at the Battle of Trafalgar.

Melissa, one of our
normally reliable altos missed not only
the rehearsal, but also the performance.

novel excuse.
Our guest singers said -
"Our choristers have been
raving about the experience - we all had such a great time." - Nicki
C.
"Thanks for such a great opportunity to
spend an afternoon & evening singing with such a committed
and talented group. It was a huge buzz to have professional
soloists and a first class orchestra. I
thought that Debra was absolutely brilliant, and got the best possible
performance out of us." - Marion G.
