‘From scratch’ events comprise one afternoon of rehearsal followed by an evening concert (with refreshments provided throughout the afternoon).
This year’s “From Scratch” features Haydn’s “Nelson Mass” (officially titled Missa in Angustiis or Mass for Troubled Times) and will be held on Saturday 14 July 2012. Rehearsal commences promptly at 1.15pm with the performance at 7.00pm.
As usual, we will be joined by the Sinfonia of St Andrew's and soloists, and will be under the leadership of Musical Director Debra Shearer-Dirié, making the event a total musical experience.
Come as a group or as an individual to meet singers with the same love of music.
Venue: St Andrew’s Uniting Church, corner Creek & Ann Sts, Brisbane City. Entrance via door on Ann St.
Train: Central Railway Station is diagonally across the road from the church.
Bus: There is a bus stop directly outside the church on Ann St.
Car: Street parking is available some distance away. Ann and Turbot Streets are clearways from 4pm to 7pm, including Saturdays. Not all off-street car parks are open on Saturdays. The closest is the Wickham Tce multi-storey, a short walk downhill to the church.
There will be an optional extra rehearsal on Tuesday 10 July 2012 (6.15pm – 8.45pm) for those who want to get the most out of the Saturday.
If you are not a singer, you are most welcome to come and listen to the fruits of the day’s labours. Audience seating is limited due to the number of performers, so early booking is recommended.
