Italy Tour - September 2011
Following successful and very enjoyable tours in New Zealand (1999) and Prague/Salzburg/Vienna (2008), preparations are well in hand for the choir’s next international venture to northern Italy during September 2011.

The total party - singers plus family and friends - numbers 54 adults plus a couple of youngsters. We embark with the intention of making beautiful music in some extraordinary venues as well being able to enjoy Italy’s other attractions - food, wine, art, ancient monuments - in good company.

The exact concert venues/performance times are being finalised, but the choir will participate in 9 performances in and around Mantova, Venice, Montecatini Terme, Perugia and Rome over the two weeks we are in Italy. Follow this link for performance times:

Debra Shearer-Dirié conducts a ' from scratch' performance of The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins
The Armed Man 'from scratch'
On Saturday 16 July, Debra Shearer-Dirié conducted a workshop and performance of The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins. Brisbane Concert Choir was joined by the Sinfonia of St Andrew's, 140 guest choristers and soloists Lucinda Thomson, Nicolie Jenkins, Ian Clarkson and Jim McNicol to present this exciting work. As can be seen, the large choir filled much of the body of the church, the orchestra was reversed and the audience sat in the choir loft and side chapels. For more photos of the event, go to the Armed Man Gallery.

Caffè Bella Melodia
On Saturday 4 June, St Andrew's church hall was transformed for a time into a very busy Italian cafe. The choir performed a wide selection of Italian music to a very appreciative full house. Soloists Meg Russell-Hines, Jack Parakh-Morgan and Ian Clarkson added an extra touch of class to the entertainment.
We would also like to thank di Bella Coffee for their generous donation of coffee, the Roman Empire Restaurant and Bar for the raffle prize of a complimentary meal at their restaurant, and Dolci Sapori for the delicious food.
